Catholic Charities Turnaround Orientation

Catholic Charities of Kansas City, St. Joseph is recruiting mentors for its TurnAround Mentoring Program which welcomes ex-offender populations back into the community. The TurnAround Mentoring Program supports men and women who have been incarcerated or jailed in making positive life choices that enable them to make healthy transitions back into the community. The mentoring program is designed to help them develop goals, budget monthly expenses and learn new life skills. Mentors must be over 24 and provide a positive example in the eyes of their mentees.

For more information, RSVP to this orientation session on November 19th, at 9:00am. You can also visit http://www.catholiccharities-kcsj.org/help-volunteer.html or call Belinda at[masked]-8398.

Our orientations are a great way to understand the impact of crime in our communities. Likewise, it is an opportunity to learn about the numerous ways you can become involved in making our streets safer. More than this, our mentoring program offers new hope to individuals who would otherwise have no one to even talk to!
When we talk about "the vulnerable" oftentimes people do not think
about this population. These folks have made bad choices in their past and they were arrested and institutionalized for it. Remember that
these are people with families, and children...most of whom resorted
to trying to feed their families and their children while living in a
sociological environment that still rejects many aspects that define
their culture(s). Because of cultural or socioeconomic differences, lack
of educational and true spiritual outlets, my people suffer. Our families suffer and our babies have the same lack as their parents. Thus,
    without help, our people perish.
