PowerLinux Users Group Founding Meeting

PLUG is pleased to announce our guest speaker Steven Alfaro, Sr. Mfg. Project Engineer at NASA/Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Since 1985 Steven Alfaro has managed mechanical fabrication of major flight projects for NASA, DOD, USGS and numerous commercial and R&D projects.

He is the Lead Manufacturing Project Engineer on Curiosity Rover sub-assembliesRemote Sensing Mast Sub-Assembly containing main cameras and laser spectrometers for science telemetry. Steven will be sharing a few of his very exciting stories, pictures and some of the incredible problems they have had to overcome around the Curiosity rover, one of the most historical deep space missions of our time.

Curiosity is powered by a Radiation hardened version of PowerPC 750.

KEYNOTE: The PLUG kick off meeting will begin with William Mapp, giving a brief warm welcome to the group and a high level overview of the vision of the users group and the sponsors.
