We are each others angels: lessons in road karma

Lets begin this write up by painting a picture in your mind of what inspired this talk.

It was a gloomy overcast Friday in April, Old Man Winter was trying to make his last stand and I just could not take any more of it. I finally let the weather get to me - on top of being worn out it was just one of those days where you want to give up and forget the world.

As a result spent my evening eating junk food zoned out in front of the television. Dazed and too lazy to move I drifted off to the land of sleep.

Sometime later I was awoken by a particularly disturbing dream which I can not remember now but it made me wake up. Summoning my strength I got myself off of the sofa and dragged my exhausted body up the stairs to the comfort of my bed.

As I tried to settle down back into my slumber my mind became more alert and a voice distinct from my normal thinking self said “It's time to give a talk, its time to share your story.”

As I lay there wishing more than anything to go back to sleep the words "We are each others angels: lessons in Road Karma and The great American Spirituality" came to my mind as a foundation for this talk. As I laid there it began to expand into my story.

I heard a clear and distinct voice say “There are great lessons here for everyone.”

When I say I heard a voice it was not the loud booming voice of God I often imagined the old biblical prophets would hear. Rather it was something much softer much more simple, more of a lamb than a lion.

I began to listen to this deep inner voice reminding me of my journey through this life. As it went on I knew there was something more to it. I pulled out my cellphone opened an email and began to type these words. That would lead to this service.

In short I spent the summer of 2008 studying yoga with various teachers, hitch-hiking and riding freight trains across America. Throughout this experience I learned what it means to totally surrender and trust in God.

Through out this process I met many people I felt could have been Angels sent from above. And I began to wonder on the gloomy night in April

What if God uses us regular everyday people to act as Angles in the lives of total strangers. Or what if all of those People I met were really Divine Angles!
