Amazonian Shamanism- A evening with Mimi, Talks, Ceremony and Healing with the Tree Spirits

Mimi was initiated and trained as a shaman in the Peruvian jungle. She works with the sacred trees of the Amazon known for their mystical healing powers.

Traditional Amazonian shamanism

We will be discussing the basics of Amazonian shamanism. Outlining what a shaman is, how they connect to the spirit world and how they perform healing work. You will also be learning about the sacred medicines they use and the spirits they work with, and how they can heal, guide and teach us.

Healing ceremony

We will be putting into practice what we have learnt in the first part of the workshop by experiencing this first-hand in a shamanic ceremony.

A sacred ceremonial space will be created through song. Icaros (medicine songs taught to the shaman from spirit) will be used to call the spirits of the trees to create a healing space. It will give you the chance to connect to these sacred trees and allow them to take you on a journey. The focus of the ceremony will be to cleanse our energetic body, heart, and mind and then bask in the beautiful healing energy of the trees. We will access the trees ancient wisdom and healing powers allowing for new realisations and positive energetic shifts to take place.

What are Icaros?

Icaros are a sound form of vibrational energy that alter or create new states of consciousness, allowing for positive change and transformation to take place. Icaros are a system of communication between shamans and the spirit world. Shamans use Icaros to energetically manage all aspects of their healing work. A direct channel is opened to the spirit world by using the voice as a gateway and allowing this energy to flow through. The trees speak to us through the Icaros, sharing their healing medicine and knowledge.

The trees of the Amazon have been used for thousands of years for their medicinal properties. Shamans in the Amazon called Paleros (tree specialists) use a traditional system of medicine. The knowledge and the use of these sacred medicines have been passed down through ancestral lineages of shamans.

Each medicinal tree houses thousands of spirits. These contain medicine spirits and protective spirits. The medicine spirits are doctor spirits that straighten crossed energy, move energetic blocks, and allow for energetic release. They work on the energetic centres of the mind, heart, and body. The guardian spirits are the spirits that ward off negative/heavy energies from penetrating our psyches.

Traditionally, shamans are guided by their Maestro (Master Shaman) throughout the entirety of their apprenticeship. An apprenticeship can last for many years. As part of tree shamans’ training, they undergo periods of time in the jungle where they must ingest infusions made from the barks of the trees, be on a very restricted diet, and cannot be physically touched by anyone. During this period of time (known as a dieta), a relationship between the shaman and the spirits becomes established. The tree spirits teach the shaman many things, including icaros.

Mimi’s Shamanic Skills

Mimi is a fully-trained nurse, shamanic artist and master Amazonian shaman, a title she received following a five-year apprenticeship in the Peruvian jungle with medicine men, which opened, for her, the doors to the spirit world. During this time Mimi established a deep psychic connection with the spirits of the forest, as they taught her their mystical healing properties.

Sacred Tree Essences

Her desire to share the wisdom and transformational power of the Amazon inspired Mimi to create Sacred Tree Essences. All of the sprays and essences are made by Mimi personally and infused with medicine songs (icaros) from the sacred trees. Mimi feels honoured to have learnt these ancient traditions and to be able to share these wonderful gifts with people who are unable to go to the Amazon.

We will be using the sprays during our ceremony and you will also be given this amazing opportunity to take the sacred essences, to assist in cleansing your energy and coming into a place of energetic balance and well-being. (this is optional)
