Modeling in Blender for 3D Printing

The focus for this introduction workshop will be only on modeling objects in Blender and exporting them for 3D printing. You will learn how to make an object, and get the chance to have your object 3D-printed at Shapeways.

The workshop will be taught by Diana Wildschut, member of artist collective De Spullenmannen and active as visual artist, lighting designer, photographer, video artist and programmer of realtime video software.

Blender is a free and open-source 3D computer graphics software product used for creating animated films, visual effects, interactive 3D applications or video games. Blender’s features include 3D modeling, UV unwrapping, texturing, rigging and skinning, fluid and smoke simulation, particle simulation, animating, rendering, video editing and compositing.

This workshop is “hands-on”. If you want to join, please bring your own laptop running Mac OSX, Windows or Linux. It is a good idea to have Blender installed. We will use version 2.5 or later. Also bring a 3-button-mouse if you have one.

I had a great time also. I really liked to finally meet in person other blender users and to talk about 3D printing capabilities.

Leuke meeting, goede sfeer.

Looks good, seems like it is a great program, and hopefully gets me started to make my first design

Yeah, it was what I hoped an introduction workshop would be. Nice vibe, nice people, learned alot and I actually remembered the stuff when I got home. It's the push I needed to finally get into Blender. Bart als brought quite some samples and I was very impressed with the possibillities of 3D printing at Shapeways.
