Best Practices for Security in Microsoft SharePoint 2013

Please join us for a presentation and discussion from Antonio Maio, Sr. Product Manager at Titus, and Microsoft SharePoint Server MVP

Microsoft SharePoint provides many features and capabilities enabling you to secure access, control authentication and authorize access to sites and information. Choosing which options to make use of, configuring them and understanding their impact can be a complex and confusing task. In this session you’ll learn about best practices and the key security features available in Microsoft SharePoint 2010 and 2013. The session will begin by talking about the business reasons why organizations need to consider securing their SharePoint content, and it will then review specific capabilities and options in detail with recommendations. We’ll also review various governance options and how they relate to SharePoint’s security capabilities. Throughout the session, you’ll hear about examples from large commercial enterprise, government and military and how the best practices they use to secure their content within SharePoint.

Please RSVP for this event.

Hi Randy, here is a topic suggestion, managing permissions in SP, best practices OOTB, best-in-breed free and commercial 3rd party add-ins and stand-alone tools. In other words, I’ve got 100s of site and 1000s of users, how can I stay on top of who has permission to what.

The summer has been a bit slower and harder to get a speaker for these events during the summer. Having said this, it would be very helpful if the group can suggest topics that may be of interest to them. Also, if you have any suggestions on speakers then that would also be appreciated.
As you know the focus of the group was to create the opportunity to share and learn. I am happy to do the ground work to help set up the meetings and get speakers...I just need guidance on what you would like to have as topics for the meetings.

Good presentation on an important topic with examples not just specific to SharePoint. Antonio was a good speaker who allowed time for questions during the presentation and afterwards. Thanks to the friendly staff at Patty Boland's. Thanks also for replacing those old, rickety chairs and for providing a new, less -deep-fried menu! Of course, deep-fried pickles are always an exception :o)
