Our organization provides a place to share an interest in flying r/c controlled vehicles commonly called drones and (UAS) Unmanned Aircraft Systems. We are located outside of the Washington SFRA (Special Flight Rules Area) with plenty of Class G airspace. Our group of members covers an area from Winchester south on 81 to Lexington, running the entire length of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. We hold an interest and passion for flying our vehicles and also a responsibility to educate others on the safety of our hobby. We welcome all levels of users from those who are beginners and curious about the many different types of vehicles, to those who were UAV pilots in the military and r/c pilots who have more than 20 years of experience. We would love to meet all of you, we will learn as a community by sharing knowledge and providing guidance in flying safely. As a community we will also provide great insight on how to purchase and build great vehicles. Another focus for our group is the use of aerial vehicles for precision agriculture. We are located in the Shenandoah Valley a rich farmland once called the breadbasket of the south. The use of UAS in agriculture is predicated to be around 90% of the market share. While we see this opportunity to incorporate new technologies into our community, we would also like to hold on to the traditions of our farming roots. We encourage and promote each member to fly responsibly, following all guidelines and to remember that this is also a fun family activity!!
Welcome interested flyers!!
