Hello Meetup.com Sidetrackers,

The Sidetrackers, an outdoor activity club for singles, is a wonderful organization and we always have a great time at our meetings and activities. We encourage each of you to attend one or more of the following upcoming events.

Sept 7, Wednesday, 6:30pm MONTHLY MEETING AND NEXT QUARTER PLANNING: This meeting is open to visitors and members and is a combination of our normal monthly meeting and a planning meeting for next quarters activities. We normally have approx. 20 - 25 people in attendance and is a great way to get to meet other Sidetrackers, learn more about the group, and contribute to ideas for upcoming activities. The joint meeting should last an hour and is at the Southeast Regional Library near the intersection of J T Butler Blvd and Gate Pkwy.

Sept. 8, Thursday, 6:10 PM. and every Thursday: WALK THE DOWNTOWN BRIDGES and RIVERWALK Meet at the River City Brewery parking lot at 835 Museum Drive next to MOSH. We will walk the Acosta and Main St Bridges and portions of the Riverwalk and get a bite to eat afterwards.

Salt Run, a tidal salt marsh inlet, is a kayaker's and canoer’s delight. You can paddle from the park to the lighthouse. It is a great place to see birds, marsh life, dolphins and other sea creatures. It is an easy paddle. It is a great place to try kayaking for the first time. Anastasia Water Sports [masked]) rents kayaks and canoes in the park. For rates see http://www.anastasiawatersports.com/home.html Bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and your canoe or kayak if you have one. We can go swimming at the beach afterwards. We will meet at the park. The rental place opens at 10:00 and they may get busy later in the day. High tide is at 11:45. Directions: you chose how you get to St. Augustine, south on I-95 or U.S.1. Go across the Bridge of Lions/ south on A1A. the light house will be on your left and the Alligator Farm on your right. Just pass the Alligator Farm to the left is the park. Look for the brown signs. Go through the park entrance ($5 per car), Boat rental is on the left side about a ½ mile into the park. Look for the tall person with a red kayak. Leader: Diane J. [masked]

Sep. 24, Saturday, 9:15 AM: NATURE HIKE ON LITTLE TALBOT ISLAND: Sleep in a bit and then lets enjoy a very pleasant four mile nature walk experiencing a cross-section of ecosystems on Little Talbot Island State Park. This includes maritime hammock, beach dunes, depression marsh, and a stroll on the beautiful white sandy beaches of the island. There should be a good opportunity to view wildlife and locate shells or sharks teeth. Bring water, snacks, sunscreen, insect repellent, a hat, and a bright smile. Cost: Entry fee of $4.00 per vehicle onto the island, plus lunch if you desire.

We will meet at Hardees on Merrill Rd. at 9:15 AM. Take 9A North or Southside Blvd Connector North and exit at Merrill Rd. Proceed East and Hardees is immediately on your left. We will car-pool and caravan approximately 20 miles to Little Talbot Island State Park off of Hecksher Blvd. If you live in north Jax or Ga. then suggest you meet us at the island at approx. 9:50 AM. If there is interest, we will probably have lunch at the nearby Sanddollar Restaurant that has good food and a wonderful water view. Please let me know you plan to come by either a phone call, e-mail, or sign up on our meetup.com site. http://www.floridastateparks.org/littletalbotisland/ Leader (Mr.) Kim L.
