April is a month we celebrate not only Earth Day (April 22) but also the birthday of Sierra Club founder John Muir.
Join us for a special evening at G2 Gallery in Venice where you can also see a photography show about national parks and monuments. We’ll have speakers – and an opportunity for you to grab a selfie with Muir too.
Sierra Club executive director Michael Brune wrote this about Muir:
“Although he died almost 100 years ago -- long before the first Earth Day -- Muir would have loved the idea of a day dedicated to celebrating (and protecting) our amazing planet. He is often remembered for opposing the destruction of wilder- ness, but Muir, first and foremost, was a celebrant of wilderness. Just pick up one of his books. His enthusiasm explodes off the page. His campaigns to protect the places he loved were fueled by this inexhaustible passion -- and by his conviction that experiencing the natural world could lift any human spirit as it had his own.”
Join the party, it’s free and open to all. Contact Angelica Gonzalez, Chapter Conservation Program Manager, at angelica.gonzalez@sierraclub.org or call (213) 387-4287.
