Details

This Spring, we will diversify the Truckee River Walk to many 2 mile (to midpoint) segments. (Mileage might be a little bit longer but not less.) Pay attention to each week's notice.

Distance is usually from 4 to 6 miles round trip on a paved path. The hike will start 5 minutes after the shown start time. This week's hike is 4 miles round trip.

Rating: Easy but there will be about 75 foot elevation gain/descent over the length of the hike so if you have foot problems only noticeable on elevation walks, be forewarned.

Join us for this every Monday warm-up hike. It is easy and mostly on an easy trail. If you want, bring a snack for a quick stop stop at the halfway mark. Then we will hike back after a short 5-10 minute break.

Dogs on leashes okay, children capable of walking this distance at your pace , strollers, tennis shoes okay (but trail runners or hiking boots are recommended). Bring water and a headlamp or flashlight although we should return before dark (but just in case be prepared).

Pictures of the hike are below. Starting with the parking lot, then progressing to the end of the mid-point of the trail (where we turn around and come back).

You want to park your car where shown (https://www.google.com/maps/@39.5044379,-119.8975241,17z)in the picture below (see "Park Car Here")

The light red (transparent) line is the hiking route (we start at the right, hike to the left, break, then hike back) -- (from All Trails which I am a member of their Pro service (pretty cool)).

Last a zoomed-in satellite view of the mid-point of the hike (we see the Truckee River again).

This is a weekly regular hike but during the winter the start time might start earlier. Each week, pay attention to the start time shown for that week.

Sign-in and liability waiver required. We ask a $1 donation to our outings leader training fund. For more information about the Sierra Club, its mission, history, and other events, please see http://sierraclub.self-help-sites.com/outings.php Membership in the Sierra Club is NOT a requirement to participate in any of our hikes.

See you there for fun and friendship!
