Monthly Meeting -- Photographing the San Gabriel Mountains

Join us for a special meeting dedicated to the San Gabriel Mountains.

Since the San Gabriel Mountains were re-designated a National Monument last fall, now is a good time to reflect upon why we love this mountain range so much and why we are so lucky to have them in our backyard. To help celebrate its scenic diversity four members of the camera committee will present a program about their photographic experiences while hiking through our local range of mountains.

The San Gabriel Mountains are part of the Angeles National Forest and offer many varied landscapes which have been captured by these artists over several years. The program will start with an introduction to the history of photography in the San Gabriel by Bob Cates, the Sierra Club Angeles Chapter historian. Bob will also show some of his own work followed by Carole Scurlock, Steve Anderson, and Allan Der who will each present some of their work with digitally projected images and commentary. In addition, some of the artist’s prints will be on display.

Note: This same program will be shown to a meeting of the Forest Committee on May 27th at the Eaton Canyon Nature Center in Altadena.

Everyone is welcome. Meetings are open to the public.

• Parking: Limited free on-site parking, metered parking on street, accessibility parking on site and on street. Additional FREE parking on city property is available on corner of Corinth and Iowa Ave, 150 feet south of facility's parking lot. Enter the building from the rear off the parking lot.
