Blair Lake Family Weekend

Join the Many Rivers Group for a weekend of exploring at Blair Lake. Tucked away from the beaten path, Blair Lake lies about 17 miles northeast of Oakridge. This warm sub-alpine lake offers gentle slopes for swimming and rich water packed full of brown trout. On Saturday, we will be hiking a 2.5 mile portion of the Blair Lake trail (3553). This out and back adventure will start at Blair Lake and end at Spring Prairie Shelter where we will eat lunch and play in the beautiful natural prairie. We will meander on a dappled sun trail through natural meadows and prairies. Blair Lake Trail is an excellent intermediate hike for the adventurous family, photographer or seasoned veterans of the outdoor world. On Sunday there will be opportunities to walk the trail around the lake, fish, swim, identify wildflowers and pick huckleberries. Breathtaking views, sweet mountain huckleberries, and natural meadows await you. There is a water source, restrooms, and garbage facilities. Bring tents, warm sleeping bags, cooking stoves, and plenty of warm layers as it does get chilly at night. Also bring a pack for day hikes. Please contact Sarah Holston at [masked]

    Hi Nancy
Actually it doesn't look like I can go Friday after all. You can email me at my Sierra Club email: [masked]

Due to not really having camped in Oregon, I was curious if this was a place that required a reservation? Or is most camping in Oregon first come, first serve? (vs. CA is the total opposite)

Cathy: I might be able to go on Friday.....but you'd have to come pick me up (near E. 30th Albertson's) since my vehicle is dead right now. I'll gladly help share cost of gas, too, no prob. Maybe we can email each other directly (vs. a public post) and swap phone numbers?

Hi, Sorry I haven't posted any comments on the upcoming camp-out. I had a death in the family recently and unfortunately will not be attending the camp-out as the service is scheduled for Sunday the 6th and I have relatives arriving in town as of this Friday. I had so looked forward to this all summer -- so will miss meeting you and sharing a fun camping experience -- hopefully next time.

I have items people can borrow for that weekend if they need (just give me ample notice, please): wimpy Coleman sleeping bag (dress warmly if using!), a 2 person tent & a day pack. And if I can bring my inflatable air mattress to use in my larger tent, I'll then have a good single inflatable sleeping pad someone can borrow. I have a propane Coleman 2 burner stove & lantern (both nearly new but haven't used either in eons, so I need to make sure they work A-O-K). And I've various coolers, too.

I live near E. 30th Albertson's so it's not far from where we're suppose to meet in the morn. I also am timely & organized so my stuff will be ready to just put in someone's vehicle. I also have an extra tent if someone needs one for this trip.

So, since I've never been here, is this a backpacking trip? Are we hiking in our stuff? Just need to know. It sounds ideal..... I like i.d.ing plants & foraging for wild foods.
