Marcus Schappi: Kickstarter Hardware Startups & the Maker Revolution

Details

We have the pleasure of welcoming Marcus Schappi to the Gold Coast to spend an evening with our Silicon Beach community.

Marcus is CEO of Geek Ammo and also well known in the maker/hacker community for his company Little Bird Electronics. He is the guy behind 2 successful Kickstarter Hardware projects: Ninjablocks (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ninja/ninja-blocks-connect-your-world-with-the-web) and MicroView (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1516846343/microview-chip-sized-arduino-with-built-in-oled-di/). Microview recently raised $573,760 (http://makezine.com/2014/03/25/interview-with-marcus-schappi/) and is shipping in July. The Microview model is an interesting one; involving a 3rd party manufacturer (Sparkfun (http://sparkfun.com/)) right from the beginning of the campaign.
