Ford OpenXC Workshop

Do you love cars and miss the days when you could easily tinker with them on the weekends?

Are you a software or hardware hacker who wants to interface more easily with your vehicle?

If so, read on ...

Ford’s OpenXC platform is the first open source automotive platform that allows you to develop apps for your automobile. More precisely, OpenXC connects to your car through the OBD-II data port, and with a system of open source hardware and software, it draws and descrambles rich sensor data from your car’s digital core. For the very first time, you can pull data out of the awesome array of sensors and computers built into your vehicle!

Ford will be holding a developer workshop starting the evening of Friday, August 2, and running all day Saturday, August 3, 2013. We will cover software development using Android and OpenXC, plus we'll build up an OpenXC hardware project (all materials included).

T.J., I'm curious: any idea how many SVAOS folks actually showed up? OK, I bet Johannes was there!

Some logistics issues and I cannot travel to come down, :-( however I am very passionate about this and will try to follow. Would like to meet up next week some time any day to catch up on all I miss today and tomorrow!

Ok, sorry folks, one more change -- the workshop starts at 6:00, not 7:00pm as I had originally posted. The TechShop page is accurate.

Thanks, Qirfiraz, I look forward to meeting you. Part of the cost also covers some materials we'll be handing out to solder up a piece of OpenXC hardware.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
