Large-Scale, Interactive Data Mining & Machine Learning with Adatao

This week Christopher Nguyen, co-founder & CEO of Adatao, will introduce interactive and real-time large scale big-data analytics without requiring use or knowledge of MapReduce.  In addition, Adatao is looking to hire great systems software engineers who have a strong background in machine learning.

At the meetup, Christopher will demo Adatao PredictiveInsights and PredictiveAnalytics, a "Big Compute" predictive analytic solution for "Big Data".  Features include web-based reporting/visualization/publishing (“basic analytics”) by Business Analysts, as well as real-time, interactive data mining and machine learning (“advanced analytics”) on large data sets by Data Scientists.  What used to take hours are now routinely accomplished in seconds, enabling use cases not previously possible.  He will present architecturally how this was accomplished using Spark/Shark/HDFS and other subsystems, with R/R-Studio and Python scriptable front-ends.  He will also discuss some use cases where large enterprises are successfully deploying this solution, and lessons learned.

Bio: Christopher Nguyen is co-founder & CEO of Adatao, with the vision of moving the industry beyond "Big Data as a Problem" to "Big Data as an Opportunity", by bringing Predictive Business Intelligence to the enterprise. He is a former engineering director of Google Apps, a recipient of the Google Founders' Award, a Stanford PhD who co-founded two enterprise startups with successful exits, and was a professor of Computer Engineering at HKUST. Christopher has extensive experience building technology startups that solve enterprise business challenges.

I'm looking for someone who can help me 30 min over a coffee for my startup idea. If you know machine learning, data mining, and are willing to help me, let me know please!

Hana, ML is all about identifying patterns in data to predict what you want to predict and the predication provides better ROI; either cost savings or new revenue or better quality or better customer experience or hopefully all of them. To start with you should have access to the data, you have enough domain knowledge to do the job by hand using a small set of data. Then you can use ML ( + BIG Data setup if needed) to do the same job for large amount of data. You can also use ML to detect some patterns and clusters and plot the data for you to visualize and interpret what this pattern or cluster means. A ML specialist can build the ML software utilizing your expert domain knowledge and access to the historical data and future data.

That's pretty much like wanting to go "West." Can you elaborate? I might know some people you could hook up with.
