Jason Hoffman
CTO & Founder of Joyent

Jason is the founder and CTO at Joyent, where he is responsible for overseeing the engineering, operations and product groups’ development and implementation of Joyent’s Cloud Computing technology. He is also responsible for research and advanced development, technical outreach, evangelism, consultative efforts for partners and business units, and manages Joyent’s intellectual property portfolio including involvement in open source projects, licensing, technology transfer, assessments of potential partnerships, mergers and acquisitions. His specialties include bioinformatics, grid computing, cloud computing, distributed systems, collaborative applications and deploying and scaling web applications.

Jason earned a BS and MS in Chemistry and Biochemistry at UCLA and a PhD in Molecular Pathology at The Burnham Institute and UCSD School of Medicine. Jason (http://jasonhoffman.org/cv.txt)taught at the university level for more than a decade, is a prolific speaker and author and a highly-regarded expert on scalable systems. He serves as the Outside Director of the WordPress Foundation, frequently blogs at Joyeur (http://joyeur.com/), and most often can be found on Twitter (http://twitter.com/#!/jasonh) when not flying across an ocean in an aisle seat. He lives in San Francisco with his wife and daughter.

Will Shulman, CEO MongoLab, a specialized MongoDB cloud hosting company

Will is a technologist and entrepreneur with 15 years of experience building innovative software platforms and products. He has played various executive and technical management roles at successful small and medium-sized software companies. Most notably he was CTO and Co-founder of Merced Systems, an enterprise analytics software company whose award-winning products have enabled it to rank consistently as one of fastest growing technology companies in Silicon Valley. Will holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Stanford University.
