Bag Making Class #3 in 7 part series (Add a zipper)

#3 Bag in our series of Tote Bags for Silver Spring Sewing Society will take us a step further in advancing our sewing skills.

This bag will have a zipper. (Zippers will be provided) This tote bag is a bit smaller in size than previous bags however it will help you to learn how to insert a zipper and use the zipper foot. Please make certain you have a zipper foot attachment on your sewing machine.

If you are not certain whether or not you have the appropriate foot for your machine please read your manual or check with the brother sew and vac shops in the area.

(If you do not own a sewing machine we have a limited number of sewing machines available for rent. Please email to reserve a sewing machine prior to registering for the class)

SUPPLY LIST

1/2 yard of fabric

Wool, cotton, corduroy, silk, poly poplin etc (some remnant fabrics will be available in class. Try to pull fabric from your own personal stash instead of purchasing)

A working sewing machine (be sure to bring your foot petal and manual if you have it handy)

Machine Presser feet (Most important will be the zipper foot)

Hand sewing needles

Extra sewing machine needles

Sewing shears

Seam ripper (this will be your best friend :-)

Tracing wheel/tracing paper or chalk (whichever you prefer)

Thread (to match your fabric)

Ruler

Tape Measure

Pin cushion

Bobbins (make sure they fit your machine)

Any additional embellishments you would like to add

A sewing box or carrying case to keep all your supplies
