SSWG Tuesday Night Meeting: Building a Fantasy World

Welcome to the Silver Spring Writer's Group Tuesday Meeting!

The Tuesday meetings are a great opportunity to get to know the writers in our group. With a more casual format than the Saturday meetings, we typically meet from 7pm - 8:30 pm ET on the last Tuesday of the month.

The meeting is divided into two parts:

(1) Introductions

(2) Targeted Discussion
Introductions is a time to introduce yourself, your work, and any issues you may be facing that you think your fellow writers can help with.

Targeted Discussion is just that - a chance to talk about anything and everything related to your writing, writing in general, literature as we know it today! Typically I'll try to provide a handout or resources focused on a particular area of writing (such as narrative structure, character, dialogue, etc). Sometimes we also do writing activities, where each individual will have approximately 20 minutes to write and then share (if you want!) with our colleagues to get additional ideas about what's working.

Focus for the 6/25/13: Building a Fantasy World Calling SciFi and Fantasy writers, this meeting will focus on techniques and strategies to build a fantasy world including mapping characters, settings, and creating fantastical languages. Bring the tools you're working with to map out your worlds!
