Wellington Meetup: Design and UX - how does this fit within SilverStripe CMS?

Details

Our next SilverStripe meetup will be looking to bring together both the technical and design sides of SilverStripe open source development.

We'll be focusing on ideas, approaches and modules that can help everyone in the SilverStripe open source community better contribute to design and UX in the CMS and in your client projects.

5:00pm - Meetup space open

5:45pm - Paul Clark and David Craig: What is UX and how does it fit with SilverStripe open source? (Workshop)

Paul and David will lead an introduction into User Experience and then run a short workshop that meetup attendees can take part in. They'll explore some problem statements around how design and UX can best be included in open source projects. They will collect and collate this information on the night and start an open discussion around the top themes present.

6:30pm - Drinks and nibbles

6:50pm - Meg Howie: Open Design, Open Source Design and Designing for OSS
Firstly, what’s the difference? Secondly, how can we encourage more designers to contribute to open source software projects? And lastly, how can we make our design useable by others? I’ll talk about some examples that are working well elsewhere, and how we’re working towards designing to ‘solve it once, solve it everywhere’ on Govt.nz (http://govt.nz/).

7:10pm - Open floor... Inviting UX and Open Source lightning talks. Please post a comment before the meetup if you are keen. First in, first talking.

7:30pm Onwards - Hangout, talk shop, networking.
