DESCRIPTION OF HIKE: Moderate-to-strenuous 9 miles round trip with 1,900’ of elevation gain/loss.

As our hike begins we will ascend the Long Canyon Trail (with its views of Bard Reservoir and the west end of Simi Valley) from the parking lot (1,137’) to a ridge (1,560’) east of Simi Valley overlooking the surrounding area. From there we’ll head southeast, dropping down to the Albertson Motorway which we’ll follow as it rises eastward to oak-studded China Flat (~2,100’). A trail will lead us to Simi Peak (2,405’), the highest point in the Simi Hills, from which we’ll enjoy 360-degree panoramic views.

PREPAREDNESS: Bring 2-3 liters/quarts of water (or other suitable liquid) and lunch/snack. Wear appropriate footwear (preferably hiking boots) and be prepared for bright sunlight (sunglasses), heat (layers of clothing), and/or precipitation (rain gear). Hiking pole(s) and a camera might come in handy.

NOTE: At the beginning of each outing you will be required to read and sign a liability release form (a sign-in sheet).
