Whoever you are and however well you think you can sing, you are warmly welcomed to Singing in the City. We will sing songs from all around the world in 3 and 4 part harmony. From beginners to experienced singers, we will have one thing in common – a love of singing. I want to foster musicianship and friendship. It is fun to sing if we strive to do it well, support each other and don't take it too seriously!
• We won’t audition.
• We won’t use sheet music - everything is learned by listening and repeating.
• You won't be asked to sing on your own
I am new to Berlin, just a few months here. I left a wonderful choir in London, also called Singing in the City, and miss it terribly. This is a sister choir, with the same vision and a common repertoire - with support from the amazing Charlotte Eaton, who is the director of the London choir. We might even arrange trips to perform or learn together. We will work towards a final free performance to family and friends.
Here is a recording of the last London performance, to show you what they do: https://soundcloud.com/lesleyscoble/singinginthecity-london ... All of these tunes were learned in 11 weeks, 2 hours per week, plus personal practice time with recordings at home. My intention is we'll tackle the folk tunes (from all over the world) rather than classical or pop tunes, which tend to be much harder! As we progress as a choir, we can move onto the more complex stuff.
