Join us on an we will go on an unparalleled adventure to the less-discovered tropical wilderness of Panama. I have worked for 2 years to find the right guides for this trip. There is no other company in the world that does this jungle adventure. Hold onto your seat, it's going to be a trip of a lifetime, literally "off the beaten path."

We will follow the ancient Ngobe-bugle http://photos2.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/a/b/2/4/event_56083812.jpegtrail through the Panamanian jungles and learn their ancient techniques of collecting and eating rainforest food and use of medicinal plants. This trail is so ancient, that in places it sinks beneath the surrounding jungle because of the wear over the millennium from the indigenous people. There are places that will have to be machete through by our guides.
We camp out in the rainforest of La Amistad International Park (UNESCO a World Heritage site). We will stand in Panama and Costa Rica at the same time.
For walkers and hikers in good physical condition, this hike will take you through virgin rain forests, high in the clouds, up to spectacular vistas. This is rated 8 out of 10 for physical challenge because you will carry your own backpack.

Option 1 - December 30 - Return from Backpack and Overnight into the Jungle

Today we start with a breakfast and return from the overnight in the jungle. Six to Seven hours of hiking back. The lenght of the hike could be five hours depending on the general fitness level of the group.

Option 2 - December 29 - Whitewater Rafting (B,L)
We will whitewater raft the Rio Chiriqui Viejo which flows through the Panama and Costa Rican border. It is considered one of the best rivers in the world for whitewater rafting with amazing rapids. We will be going Class III, which can be taken safely with beginners as well as intermediate whitewater rafters.

We all go to the hot springs and spend as much time as we want soaking our tired muscles and play with the resident spider monkey. He loves to meet everyone.

New Years Party with food, drinks and bubbly to cheer in the New Year.

We will start the New Years out with the "Path Less Traveled," at Bocas which is a chain of Islands in the Caribbean off the coast of Panama.

It is a diver and outdoor lovers paradise with unspoiled coral reefs, deep-sea fishing, boating, kayaking, snorkeling and long sandy deserted beaches.

It is a the hidden jewel unlike any to be found elsewhere in Panama. It is nick-named the "Galapagos of the Caribbean." The Smithsonian Institute, has a large research station in Bocas, has a large database of species that have been identified, so far. Read the Smithsonian Institute database here...
We will be taking a shuttle and arrive mid-day.

January 2 - Sailing and Snorkeling through the Caribbean (B,L)
We will set sail on a catamaran that defines the “essence” of sailing and snorkeling with the dolphins in Bocas.http://photos4.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/a/a/7/a/event_56083642.jpeg
I have taken this trip and I have got to say that it was the most incredible day that I had spent while in Panama. There was a bait ball being run by tuna. A new baby dolphin was born. The Captain has a following of pet Sergent fish that flock to his boat when he anchors at "The Garden."
We start by setting sail to Dolphin Bay where we will watch the Bottle Nose Dolphins play and feed.
From there we go snorkeling at Mangrove Reef, Isla San Cristobal, one of the most diverse reefs around Bocas Del Toro. It is known for its abundance of sponge coral, brittle stars, sea anemones and sea urchin. You will be provided with everything that you need, such a snorkel and fins. You can also choose to free-dive if you want.

http://photos4.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/a/e/2/6/event_56084582.jpeg

We will snorkel in the Mangroves which are a breeding and nursery ground for many marine organisms. This reef is especially unique because it is very shallow and you will snorkel through the mangroves with schools of baby fish! What an incredible sight this place is. This is beautiful coral that is not seen by other SCUBA or snorkelers, as he is the only one that goes to this place. There are stunning coral reefs, gads of five different varieties of starfish, tons of sea urchins and well you will just have to see it.
http://photos3.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/b/4/0/c/event_56086092.jpeg
From here we raise the sails again and let the wind take us sailing to The Garden, where you will once again have the experience of snorkeling.

In the meantime we can lay back, relax and enjoy the fresh baked sandwich made to your liking on the boat with drinks, cocktails and easy music.

Dropping anchor in the sand “The Garden” is a perfect reef to explore. Large coral heads, schools of parrot fish, coupled angel fish and marine life of all kinds await your curious eyes. Sargent Major fish or as we like to call them ” pinananas” come in schools to eat the pineapple “pina” skins we discard making for a perfect photographic feeding frenzy!!!!

From here we raise the sails enjoy fresh fruit and sail back to the island, “tranquilo style.”
January 3 - Free Day in Bocas (B)
Surf, take sailing lessons, kayak,SCUBA,snorkel or just enjoy the beaches.

January 4 - Exit Day (B)
Today we leave from Bocas back home, to the "real" world.
