We are a group of singles in our mid 20's - mid 50's in the Twin Cities area that enjoy fun events and discover shared interests while creating friendships.

We try to limit our event numbers to around 20 so that you may have a chance to get to know one another better as we build this community of friendship.

Meetup Headquarters charges about $150/year for us to have this site.  Members are asked to help pay that cost and can donate on line or in a Donation Jar. Just click on the donation button on our main page.

Some of our events include comedy shows, bowling, concerts, theater nights, kayaking, skiing/snowboarding, BBQs/picnics, badminton games, rock climbing, wine tastings, thematic dinners, happy hours, horseback riding, live music / dancing, potlucks, board games, cards, mystery dinners, tennis, volleyball, wallyball, golfing, and dining out.

Our Leadership Team consists of some fantastic people who live in various parts of the Twin Cities, so we try to schedule our activities and events throughout the TC Area. There will likely be something near your neighborhood at some point.  You can also choose to be an Event Host and send me information to get on the calendar.

There are three important policies that I kindly ask you to respect.  Organizers are donating their time to create these wonderful opportunities for this group's members.

1)  Please keep your RSVP as up-to-date as possible.  The organizers need accurate numbers when making reservations, for staffing at businesses/restaurants, etc....for saving tables at live music venues, and/or ordering or bringing in enough food for an event.

It reflects very poorly upon Meetup when business is lost due to the establishment reserving tables/space for our members and then having "no-shows."  This is not the message we want to convey as being part of the Single in the Cities Meetup Group.  We would much rather have them excited to see us come back, and offer us special discounts :)

If you need to do a late cancel, please contact the organizer/host directly, whether through email or cell phone numbers when given out to the "yes" RSVP's by the Organizer/Host.  If you are a habitual "no-show" you will be removed from the group.  I understand things happen and plans need to be changed, but due to the reasons stated above, kindly let the Organizer or Host know if you cancel the day of the event.

2)  Be kind and respectful to other members of the Single in the Cities Meetup Group.  Remember the goal is to create friendships and we do not want anyone feeling uncomfortable due to another member's words or actions.  If I receive a complaint or information regarding a member being disrespectful or making unwanted advances, I will notify you.  If a 2nd complaint is received after we have been in contact, you will be removed from the group.  Just be mindful of other's comfort levels in regard to level of touch or saying something that may be offensive, disrespectful, or rude to other members.  This is a positive-minded group and there are ways to communicate opinions without being unkind to members.

3) Make donations in the jar when you see it, so we can continue to keep posting fabulous events.

As your Organizer, and with my past experiences as a Co-Organizer and Assistant Organizer of a couple of other Meetup Groups, I can attest to the fact that I have met some of the nicest people in all of the Twin Cities Area through these events.

The friendships that have formed because of having the availability of being in Meetup Groups in the Twin Cities have gone beyond scheduled meetups.  I have been fortunate to see members reaching out to one another to help in any way they can, whether it was computer questions, moving, packing, child care, a sick parent, or a holiday in which you, as a single person, may have been alone.

This really is a fantastic opportunity for us to grow closer together, especially with those whose families live far away.  It is my hope to continue to see all the positives that come out of being in this meetup group.  I can't wait to spend more time with the members I already know, and meet the ones I haven't had a chance to yet.

I hope to see you soon!

Sincerely,

Lisa L.
