While married, many will identify themselves as a spouse or as a part of a whole. I used to tell people who offered social opportunities directly to me, that I would have to consult with the social director, my (now ex) wife. Once we are separated, though, an different opportunity is presented. I recall months of considering how my actions might effect my relationship. While I was wondering if the separation was temporary, and reconciling might happen, but even beyond. It took a while to think about how my choices would effect only me. Now, nearly three years after my separation started, I have a more Personal Identity.

Some may worry that if they 'think single' they won't practice their 'couple skills' and lose them. I contend that future prospects may see those 'couple skills' as part of the past relationship, and a new relationship involves a unique set of skills, to be developed as a part of getting to know one another. Attend this meeting and find out ways to get that single feeling. I find it rewarding.
