The 94th Aero Squadron is truly a Columbus landmark. We have enjoyed this venue several times in the past. It has been far too long since we held an event here. So, back by popular demand, join us to relax, dance, mingle and meet new and old friends.

NOTE: There is NO COVER CHARGE for this event. However, in fairness to the 94th and our music provider (Patrick), we need to have a MINIMUM of 25 RSVPs by Wednesday, evening (February 3rd).

As they have done for us in the past, the 94th will remain open “just for us” until 11:00pm! Yes folks, we are special…just like your mother always told you! We will be Mixing, Mingling, Dining and Dancing (“MMDD”) at the “94th” in our own private banquet room; “Captain Eddies Cabaret”, which is complete with a dance floor, our own bar, dining room, patio and a wall of windows facing the airport! We will have the room until they lock the place up at 11:00pm, so join us from 6:30 to 7:45 for our “On our feet Mix & Mingle (with our trademark nametags)” while we make new friends and visit with “old” ones (figure of speech…no reference to chronological age :-). Then about 7:45 we will pull the tables and chairs back in to sit down (yea!) and enjoy dinner; and of course another drink, or two…or maybe even three. Hey, it’s a Saturday night. No place better to go, right?. Dancing will be optional of course, and available whenever the mood hits us.

Music will be provided by our very own Patrick; a professional musician and member, (ask for his biz card for your next wedding reception, bachelor/bachelorette party, bar/bat mitzvah, or Brit Milah (OUCH!) ). Be sure to post your “Thank You” notes below to Patrick for offering to provide our music. Oh, and be sure to ask him to sing a tune or two for us. Amazing!

And while 11:00pm may be late for the 94th, it is not late for us, so if you need a place to wrap up your evening, some members might head up Hamilton Road (that means north) to FM American Bar and Grill, or Gatsbys, as we have before.

As always, feel free to bring a WingMan and/or WingWoman to share and to introduce to our wonderful and fun group. Our room will offer plenty of space for guests; the more the merrier!

Please RSVP if you think you may be joining us. As always, this is not "required", but it does help with our planning for the event.

And please follow our group’s code of conduct by tipping our servers generously. This is how we have built such a strong reputation with Central Ohio establishments, and why we are invited back to such fine establishments.

Parking: free, plentiful and convenient.

Access is from both Hamilton Road to the east, and 670 from downtown (airport exit). It is closer to Hamilton Road than to the airport terminal. If you haven’t been here before, I highly recommend that you check your GPS navigation. It is situated between the two main runways of the airport at 5030 Sawyer Road, 43219.

Background on the 94th: Many of our members are new to Columbus. This is a “must experience” Columbus landmark, having been here for 30 years. Themed as a 1917 old country French Farmhouse, it is appointed with aviation relics and military memorabilia depicting the times of the WWI and WWII era. The interior of the restaurant is cozy and romantic with huge stone fireplaces, wood paneling, and beamed ceilings.

A little history for those of you not from the Columbus area: Captain Eddie Rickenbacker was a Columbus native and World War I flying Ace. Rickenbacker's 26 victories remained the American record until World War II. Rickenbacker flew a total of 300 combat hours, reportedly more than any other US pilot in the war. And yes, the Rickenbacker Air Base is named after him. He is “planted” in Columbus’ Greenlawn Cemetery.

If you are so inclined, here is a great article (and a video clip of Captain Eddie flying a bombing run over German enemy lines. You will leave this page): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eddie_Rickenbacker#World_War_I
