I was encouraged to join this group from a co-worker, who is also single, and was told these social gatherings were fun and that there are many others 'out there,' like us, who need to socialize with others who are in similar situations and should find friendships outside of the limited areas of employment. I believe she is correct.
I love animals, especially our feathered friends. I have two Senegal parrots, and previously I used to breed a various species: African Greys, cockatiels, Pacific Parrotletts. I have also rescued wild birds (mourning doves, finches, grackles) and re-released them. I enjoy movies, dancing, concerts (anything from classical to blues). I can also be perfectly content at home or outdoors on a patio with a quiet dinner, wine and a movie.
I would be happy to plan any event. I helped organize several high school reunions back in L.A., where places, caterers, DJs, photographers/videographers, decorations, etc. ALL were my responsibility. Would be happy to give input if asked.
I heard about Gilbert Singles through a co-worker. She was widowed several years ago, and after she knew I had been divorced for several years, she encouraged me to join groups whose members were in similar situations. I didn't realize how many of us there are out there...probably much more than people realize.
An L.A. native (I was an Army-brat), I've lived in AZ since 1997. Currently divorced (no children), and I'm striving towards total independence. Returned to college (haven't graduated yet), & looking forward to meeting others with similar interests.
