Religion is usually seen as providing a practical basis for living such as in giving a purpose for life and an underpinning for morality. The idea of a loving and all-powerful God, such as taught by Christianity, is often claimed to provide a philosophical foundation for life as well as a practical one. If the idea of God is rejected, are there other such philosophical or practical foundations available?

Our speaker, Tom Price, will give us the challenge “Is Atheism Liveable?” Tom is from the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics which is in partnership with Wycliffe Hall in Oxford. We expect a very enlightening evening as we hear the challenge and the atheists in the discussion group seek to meet it. Tom’s style is not confrontational and so we are looking forward to a respectful and listening discussion.

After Tom’s talk, the main format of the evening will be Q&A and discussion, firstly as a whole group and then round tables in a pub style setting.

Please come in time to buy a drink and meet Tom ready for the formal start at 8pm.
