Thanks to everyone who came out this evening! It would be great to do this regularly. Maybe earlier? Maybe later? Maybe on Wednesday? (Church night, ya know.) Wha'd'ya think?

I changed the location because there's a UTC football game at Findley stadium so CBC will probably be packed.

I'm all for keeping this informal. That said, my interest is in Skepticism as practical philosophy. What does it mean to be a Skeptic? Does Skepticism come with some moral mandate to serve others and improve the human condition? What might that look like? Skepticism, as I see it, comes with an imperative to apply as well as expand human knowledge. "The only way to understand something is to try to change it." Activism and advocacy are the fruits of the tree of inquiry, which grows from the historical and philosophical roots of Skepticism. I'd love to hear others' thoughts about this, and about ways we're working to make Skepticism about more that just refuting superstitions and psuedoscience.

We have a plan! Now we just need a date & time... how about 5:00 PM, Saturday, December 6th? Either my house or, in keeping with the "pub", Chattanooga Brewing Company. Please let me know your preference.

What if we just self-organize? I know Chris is really busy. Chattanooga Brewing Company and Sturm Haus are both great locations. Or we could meet at someone's house. I'd be glad to host at my place in East Ridge on a Friday or Saturday evening because I have my my kids on the weekends. Especially if you bring the beer! ;-)

Greg, if you want to take the "host" role, Chris and I would help get the event set up on here and the Facebook group. Just PM me on Facebook if you're interested.

Yes, please cross-post. Not everyone is on facebook.

Please do cross-post. I'd like to attend. I'd even be glad to host a meetup!

Chris Silver is the current point-person on meetings. As Greg said, we've actually been meeting somewhat regularly over the past year. I didn't realize those events weren't being cross-posted here.

There's been a few meetings scheduled via Facebook. Maybe just pick a day, time, and location and see what happens... how about Wednesdays after work or Sunday morning coffee?

I agree with Julie that it would be great to have something on the calendar. We're happy to host a Meetup at our home. We're located in Chickamauga, GA, so that might be a bit more than everyone wants to drive. If there's interest, we can set a date for next month.
