Skepticism! What's in it for ME? How do I benefit from being a Skeptic?

We all know, from previous meetings, that being a good Skeptic takes work. It's not always easy. Then why do we do it. How does the Skeptic benefit from being skeptical?

I'll cover a few points as usual and we'll figure it all out. Who knows, we might find out it's not worth the effort. I doubt it, of course.

For preparation, think about how skepticism has benefited you.

The monthly meeting of the Skeptics of Tucson are held on the second Monday of the Month at the Denny's on Speedway, near Alvernon at 7PM. Many show up early for dinner and conversation prior to the official meeting.

Are you aware that the U of A has a professor Gary Schwartz, director of its Laboratory for Advances in Consciousness and Health. Author of The G.O.D. Experiments, subtitled How science is discovering God in everything, including us? He also wrote The Afterlife Experiments.

Lack of skepticism is rampant out here.

Yes, I'm aware. He's definitely an embarrassment and an indication that we should be working toward advancing skepticism.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
