The original idea for the skydeck dance class was sparked by Shauna Mckelvey, who attended an authentic movement & dance class FOR THE FIRST TIME, at a Women's Retreat in Palm Springs 2010. After finding extreme JOY, FREEDOM & HEALING, she decided to go home and KEEP DANCING, "like no-one is watching", in her own home, as a form of moving meditation. Shauna, (aside from managing the "hip" Zinc lounge at Shade Hotel in Manhattan Beach) wanted to bring this experience to MORE WOMEN! She contacted Authentic Movement & Dance Expert, Jennifer Jimenez of www.letsdancetogether.net (the teacher of the dance class at the women's retreat), and asked her to come out to the Skydeck and teach a FREE - yes FREE - dance class at THE AMAZING SHADE HOTEL!!!! Shauna & Jennifer then met with Katie Kruft, General Manager at Shade and graduate of USM's Spiritual Psychology Program ... These powerful women came together, sipped on Chardonnay, and this powerful monthly meet-up was BORN!!!
