The Portland Skyliners Tall Club has been part of Tall Clubs International™ (TCI) since 1955.  We are a not-for-profit social organization for Tall adults.  Minimum height requirements are 5’10” for women and 6’2” for men.  All members must be at least 21 years of age.  Our primary purpose is to enjoy all types of social activities in the company of equally TALL friends!  Our membership in TCI also makes it possible for us to attend the annual TCI Convention. (We’re just home from TCI Convention 2013 in Las Vegas where we learned that next summer we’ll be spending the Fourth of July and choosing a new Miss Tall International® in Washington DC!)  Plus, many other TCI clubs host smaller “Weekend” events in distant cities to which all TCI members are invited.  In fact, Portland Skyliners is hosting “Portlandia Weekend 2013” from Aug. 23-25, so don’t miss it.

In addition to granting our own college scholarships to TALL high school seniors in our area, Portland Skyliners and TCI support two non-profit groups — ”TCI Foundation” which grants multiple TALL scholarships internationally and “National Marfan Foundation” which is a non-profit voluntary health organization dedicated to saving lives and improving the quality of life for individuals and families affected by Marfan syndrome and related disorders.  (Height can be a symptom of Marfan syndrome, and our Tall Club founder, Kae Sumner Einfeldt, was actually diagnosed with it later in life.  See http://marfan.org/marfan for more information.)

We have found Meetup to be a great tool for inviting prospective members to attend Skyliners events in comfortable public settings. It can also be a quick, convenient way for full members to RSVP for our open events.  If you click on “Our calendar,” you will see the many open events that can be RSVPed for through Meetup, as well as many additional closed events which appear there as simple post-it notes.  Anyone can attend the public events, but you must be a full, dues-paid (only $25 per year) member to automatically receive the emailed monthly calendars with all the details for closed events, though if you sign up as a prospective member, you will receive a courtesy copy of our calendar for three months.  During that time, attend two events and you will be eligible to join the club and continue to receive the full calendar.

To learn more about our club, please visit our website www.tall.org/clubs/or/portland.  To learn about becoming a full member of the club, send us an email at portlandskylinerstallclub@gmail.com with “Membership” in the subject line and provide your contact information so that our Membership Officer can get back to you.  If you have a social calendar suggestion you can send it to the same email address, but make the subject “Social.”

The 75-year history of TCI begins with a great story about our founder, Kae Sumner Einfeldt, and her experiences working for Walt Disney on the 1937 animated film, “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.”  Check it out, plus find links to other TCI Tall Clubs around the country at www.tall.org.  Hope to see you at an event, soon!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
