Are you starting a new career, a new project or campaign, or a new business?

Do you want help?

For over 20 years our founder & CEO John Wren has been doing business consulting and holding open meetings with the intention of helping people who want to start something new, or to grow in what they have already started.

Based on his experience and input for scores of experts, we have developed the SBCC/WrenCollege.org method for spiritual startup & systems.

Our method is comprised of these four practices:

+Recover+Start+Grow+Flourish+AMDG+

At our free IDEA Café Startup Praxis we invite real people to share how they really started, and we brainstorm. We also give you a free guide to the four practices.

If we are successful, you'll be too busy to come back next week. But please do join us again to share your startup experience, or when you once again are started in a new direction.

We provide help for anyone who would like to start a similar meeting in cooperation with their local chamber or other group. We also help organize and facilitate peer advisory groups called Franklin Circles.

Our purpose is to do Good Work and to help others to do Good Work, too. Good Work provides adequate income, a useful product or service that delights the customer, and an opportunity for learning and growth. One of the best opportunities for adult learning is to start and manage a new business.

There are no dues or fees, we are supported through our own contributions. The only requirement for membership is a desire to flourish for the purpose of being thankful and giving our higher power the credit, in what ever way we each understand our higher power. (AMDG= Ad Majorium De Glorium.)

We cooperate with local chambers of commerce and other groups, local community newspapers, colleges and universities, churches, synagogs, and temples, but we affiliate with no one. Our only purpose is to do Good Work, and to help others to do Good Work too.

All meetings are autonomous, self-supporting and self-governing. If you attend one and don't like it, start your own! Ask us for help or just start, no permission is necessary.

The model IDEA Cafes our founder John S. Wren leads each Friday follows the format used for nearly 20 years, we share startup experience and brainstorm. If we are successful you'll be too busy to come back for it the next week.

At the public meetings we announce here on our Meetup.com site walk-ins welcome, no RSVP is required.

Small Business Chamber of Commerce, Inc.

From our founder, John S Wren:

Since 1994, I've organized groups to share startup experience, information and ideas. 5280 Magazine says we've "infused Denver with an entrepreneurial spirit." People who've watched me organize and facilitate weekly IDEA Startup Cafes for nearly 20 years, never charging.

People ask me, "John, why do you do this?"

Simple. So my grandkids have the opportunity to own a business that Pop had in 1949.

Now we've formed the Small Business Chamber to strengthen the grassroots in business. And we now help people form IDEA Startup Praxis, based on what Ben Franklin did with his friends in 1727. When the time is right, will you help us in this mission? Do you want help now? Let's talk!

Want to create a Good Living? Just Start!

What is a Good Living? (We may start using this term instead of Good Work, what do you think?)

Some call it Good Work or Right Livelihood. Whatever you call it, of course
making money is part of it. But it also means we have leisure time to be a good neighbor, family member, citizen and friend.

A Good Living also means that we are growing and learning from what we are doing, that the work is not just drudgery.

At it's core, a Good Living means that we are of real help to our customers, that we are engaged in providing a useful and necessary product or service that delights our customers  who make repeat purchases and referral their family, friends and business associates to us.

If you sincerely want to make a Good Living, maybe we can help you, and then you in turn can help others to continue your own growth.

Join us when you want a boost as you start in a new direction with a new career, new project or campaign, or a new business!

Each IDEA Café Startup Workshop is facilitated by a Franklin Circle Peer Advisory Group that is independent and self-governing. We'd love to help you start a new group!

If it is really an IDEA Café it meets on Friday. We'll tell you why Fridays, and our experiments with other days when you call or attend an IDEA Café.

Why IDEA? We take our name from a 4-step business creativity model many have found useful here over the past 20 years: I= Inspiration or Identify the Target; D= Develop Alternatives; E= Evaluatie the Alternatives; and A= Act! (Developed by John Wren and a consultant from the University of Denver for the local Bell (AT&T) operating company in the late 70s.)

Boone, this logo created by Walt Disney for DU, was formally abandoned by the University of Denver and is ok for our use, John Wren received clarification/permission directly from Chancellor Robert Coombe.

We cooperate with local chambers and others to organize these workshops and Franklin Circle Peer Advisory Groups (For more, Google "How to Start A Franklin Circle.")

Since 1994, our IDEA Startup Workshops have invited speakers to share their career, business, project, and political startup experience and we share ideas. We've used Meetup.com to communicate about IDEA Cafes and to take RSVPs since 2005, we are now also using it as a tool to identify leaders of new groups and to help them get started with autonomous, self-governing groups.

Since 1994, we've heard from people such as: Dan Brogan, 5280 Magazine; Jared Polis, entrepreneur and U.S. Representative; Kenton Kuhn, Black-tie; Paul Lewan, one of the principles of Lewan & Associates; John Brackney and Joe Blake from the South Metro and Denver Chambers of Commerce; and hundreds of others.

IDEA Cafe Workshops are free or low cost and open to all, we just ask that you bring your brain for the brainstorming, you'll help others as you get help.

Illustration: "Boone" was designed by Walt Disney for the University of Denver, which used it for decades before they officially abandoned the image in 2013. D=Develop Alternatives in IDEA. Chancellor Robert Coombe has told us the University has abandoned the logo, lots of others are using it too, so it's not exclusive with us.

Boone is our #1 IDEA Pioneer which is what we call our members.

For nearly 20 years IDEA Cafe Startup Workshops have helped people to make a Good Living who are starting down a new path with a new project or campaign, a new career or new business. Let us help you!

5280 Magazine says we've "infused Denver with an entrepreneurial spirit."

The Denver IDEA Startup Cafe , led personally by our founder John S Wren,  is now held each Friday afternoons, and it serves as the model for new groups, in cooperation with local chambers of commerce, local community newspapers, and others.

If you'd like to start a group, please let us know. For more information, contact our founder & CEO John Wren at (303)861-1447 PLEASE CALL BEFORE YOU EMAIL John@SmallBizChamber.org

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
