Talk summaries:
Speaker 1: Developers wield extraordinary power today, even in traditionally conservative "enterprise IT". This has resulted in the rapid adoption of agile development in place of waterfall, distributed services over complex monoliths, and scripting languages and lightweight frameworks, like Node.js, instead of all-in platforms. The database, sitting at the bottom of the stack, has not been immune to these changes. This session will demonstrate how full-stack JavaScript development with the browser, Node.js, and NoSQL can fulfill the promises of modern, agile development without compromising on the less sexy, but required aspects of mission-critical software, like transactions, high availability, security, and governance.
Bio: Justin is a Director of Product Management at MarkLogic and a self-professed JavaScript nerd. He oversees the suite of applications, tools, and APIs that developers use to interact with MarkLogic’s Enterprise NoSQL database. Justin has over 15 years of experience designing, developing, and bringing to market data-driven applications for start-ups and large organizations using web technologies and modern software development practices. He has an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley (but don’t hold that against him).
