SoCal Science Cafe

Hello folks,
How are you?  My name is Brian Hart, and I am the Organizer of SoCal Science Cafe!  I want to welcome you all to this group, and I am so happy and grateful that you're all members!  I want to write to you as I often do and keep you updated on the latest news with Science Cafe.  At the intersection of Science, Lattes, and Life, you'll find The Science Cafe. At The Science Cafe, join us as we explore your favorite science topic in plain English, with wine or coffee on the side. We do things on a "Discovery Channel" level. Membership is FREE. Join us for doing everything from hearing lectures to eating food and drinking a little wine with our science.   Now 2 years old and counting!
On that note, let's get started!  Is there anyone you know of who might really get a kick out of being in the group?  Then tell them! |
Thanks, Assistant Organizers! Did you know...the Science Cafe had its 2nd Anniversary last Saturday, April 14, 2007?  We have 400 members and we've held 52 events in the past two years!  How's that for a Happy Birthday to The Science Cafe!

Our next Meetup: Visitor Night at the UCI Observatory

We cordially invite members to attend Visitor Night at the UCI Observatory with us!  Why is it at Lee's Sandwiches then??  Well, that's because we are gathering for dinner at Lee's Sandwiches from 7-7:45 PM, wherein we'll pile into the cars to head on
up to the Observatory.  We're meeting so a) we can all find the group, and b) then we can pile into each other's cars even more so as to save on the $7 parking structure fee.  This fee is a per vehicle fee that must be paid because the Anteater Parking
Structure is the only place the Observatory Shuttle leaves from!  Join us as we look at the Orion Nebula (left) as well as some other pretty sights in the heavens!  Bring warm clothing and comfortable outdoor shoes.

When: 7:00 PM Friday, May 18  Where: Meet at the Lee's Sandwiches on Campus Drive, by the In-N-Out.

Even though there's a fee for the parking structure, the UCI Observatory Visitor Night itself is free -- no admission charge.  All ages allowed!
