Hi DTML:

The Getty Villa is one of the most interesting museums in Los Angeles county. It is one of the most fascinating villas that holds an extensive Greco-Roman collection of sculptures and art. The current special exhibitions in addition to the normal exhibition are as follows:

Roman Ephebe from Naples: Ongoing
Carvers and Collectors: The Lasting Allure of Ancient Gems: Until September 7, 2009

Admission is FREE. Parking is $15 per car. This is where carpooling is recommended for those who wish to save money on parking. Also the rules of Getty Villa require each person to have an advanced timed reservation to visit. If you are interested, please RSVP before July 8th, 2009 so I can book the reservations accordingly.

After visiting the Villa, if time permits, we will be visiting Lake Shrine which is about 1 mile south. Lake Shrine is a meditative sanctuary founded by the Self-Realization Fellowship. The small lake holds a part of Mahatma Gandhi's ashes and is a great place to escape from hardships of life.

We will meet at the front entrance to the Villa. When going, please consider traffic and time to look for parking, leave early and arrive on time. Be sure to bring cameras but turn off your flashes for best photo effects. Wear comfy shoes as there is a lot to explore.
