Game Fest & Food Fair: Ready Player 2! (Hosted by WGN)

Join Us for Westside Geeks & Nerds' 9th Game Fest & Food Fair event!

Come celebrate a Valentine's Day-themed gaming event!

Attend solo or bring your player number 2!

The Game Fests are very lively, super fun, highly diverse, and social, featuring tabletop and console gaming, and food and drink of all kinds!

If you love all-night gaming, cool geeky company, and lots of food, this event's for you!

We'll be gaming it up in a large 5,000 sq. ft. filming studio in the Echo Park area.

Lots of room and very chill specs.

When: February 8th, Saturday

Time: 7pm - 4am

Where: Evidence Film Studios

Admission Fee: $12 cash at the door DOE/ $10 prepaid payment online through PayPal through WGN.

(DOE = Day of event)

For prepaid $10 admission:

PayPal the $10 fee by RSVPing to the event at WGN's meetup group or paying through the PayPal link below:

PayPal Payment: LINK

Send $10 attendance fee to [masked]

If you wish to pay me in cash, message me about meeting in person to buy a ticket. Tickets are $12.

Once your PayPal fee is paid or ticket is pre-purchased, your spot for admission will be marked down on a prepaid guest list which will be checked at the door DOE.

If you bring guests, they must also pay attendance fee at the door.

Game Fests have previously been potluck style, but for the first time, WGN will be providing plenty of eats and drinks for both donations and purchase. This way we can guarantee the quality of food that will always be present at our events. Guests will also find it better to come in worry-free with only games in tow for the event, rather than additionally scouting for or preparing a dish for a potluck arrangement.

You are free to make food requests here on the commentary section and we'll definitely consider having these foods available for the food and drink menu and stations.

Vegan, vegetarian, and those sensitive to gluten will be considered for the menus. As a vegan, I'll personally make sure to cover that base.

The Game Fests are a lot more delightful with lots of entertainment. Bring your favorite board and tabletop games to share and play with others.

This includes gaming equipment such as consoles, laptops, monitors, controllers, and the like. If you'd like to bring a projector for dance games, please let me know.

If you'd like to tag your games with a sticker or marker to show ownership, please do so. I advise it.

We will have a gaming station for video gaming in the warehouse.

We'll be offering Valentine's Day grams (card with personal note and choice of attachable candy) for purchase to send that special someone, whether he/she is someone you meet the day of the party or someone you've had your eye on for awhile.

We'll even allow you to send a gram anonymously if that is your wish, but as they say, "fortune favors the bold!"

Alcohol will be on the premises and will be free with a suggested donation for serving.

As always, with alcohol involved you MUST be 21+ to drink and YOU must drink responsibly.

Inebriated/drunk guests will not be welcomed back to any future events and will be removed from the group. I don't want to be responsible for this type of complication. As a renter, I am responsible for guests and maintaining the integrity and quality of the establishment. The WGN crew has to clean up after the event, so it's inconsiderate to trash and defile the place through drunken behavior and consequences of any kind.

Other fun stuff to look for at this event:

• -Two Rooms and a Boom

• -Pinata play

• -Raffles and prizes

• -Fun and atmospheric decor

• -much more!

Last but not least, please bring the most important thing of all:

An unadulterated desire and craving to have lots of fun!

If you have any ideas (or suggestions) to add, please post them!

Thought the details of gaming werent explained well. I would recommend twister, arcade games, n at least 2 42" tvs for gaming.

Hi, I was wondering how easy parking is to find at this event and if it's metered/ect. Thanks in advance for all the help! :)

Hi Renee, the parking is pretty easy on the street. There is no meter parking. I would recommend parking on Central that is where I parked last time.

Is it only console or do people do PC gaming here too?

    1 · February 4, 2014

    • Ally

We've never done PC gaming before, but I guess it might be possible. I'll have to ask the venue owner what accommodations they have for this. I know the accommodations are much better than the last place since this is a film studio with major tech equipment on the premises.

We just need someone to bring a router that everyone can connect too. Unless you need the computers to have internet access too, then you would have to use a hot spot or the router at the vendor's location.

Who is bringing monitors and other video gaming equipment? We definitely have rooms to set them up for a video gaming area.

Someone mentioned on WGN that they will be bringing their Xbox One or PS4.

So any consoles are welcome, both current and retro.

Also remember to bring board games or any other tabletop games, if you have them and wish to share. They can be core or party games. :)
