An introduction to writing Windows 8 style apps
Windows 8 is finally here! Windows 8 represents the biggest change to Windows since Windows 95 was introduced. With these changes comes a brand new kind of application. These are exciting times for Windows developers a there is a huge opportunity to get your app into the hands of half a billion customers. In this presentation, Ben Farmer will discuss what's new in Windows application development and what is new on the platform. Next he'll describe what a Windows 8 application can and can't do. Finally, he'll briefly cover how to write applications using C#, JavaScript and C++.
Bio:
Ben Farmer is a developer and engagement manager at Clarity Consulting in Chicago. He has extensive experience with presentation technologies such as Window Runtime (WinRT), Windows Phone, Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), Silverlight, HTML, CSS and JavaScript. He has served clients in several verticals including finance, retail, and consumer applications. Recently Ben has been working on Windows Phone applications and touch applications targeting several types of Windows devices. In his spare time Ben enjoys traveling, cooking and messing around with the Netduino microcontroller.
