Adam Knight - What testers can learn from Marketing

Marketers have a mature and well defined set of techniques used in campaign management for identifying targets, verifying delivery and assessing effectiveness of campaigns. I'll take a look at some of these techniques from a perspective of what software testers might be able to adapt from them to help in our work.

I'm hoping to follow up with a discussion on the validity and limitations of looking to other industries as the basis of our of software models and methodologies.

Adam is a passionate tester and likes to contribute to the testing community. A speaker at various testing events including Agile Testing Days, UKTMF and STC Meetups and EUROStar, Adam specialises in testing Big Data software using an exploratory testing approach backed by file driven acceptance test automation. Adams work as Director of Testing and Support for RainStor was used as a case study for successful acceptance test automation in Gojko Adzic's book on Specification by Example (http://www.manning.com/adzic/).
