We are excited to announce the first ever Chicago Software Testing Club Meetup. Yay!
A relaxed social evening with other local Chicago testers is happening on November 10th from 5:30pm.
The event is kindly sponsored by Original Software - which means there will be some free drinks too!
We welcome anyone who may want to do a 5 minute lightning talk, please leave a comment here if you are interested. So far we have the following volunteers/talks:
Tim Bower, Senior Solutions Architect - Is There a Smarter Way to Test Manually?"
I can talk about my couple projects or one of them

Hi Peter - sure, perhaps talking about some of your learning experiences around building one of them would be good.
The meetup is next week - wouldn't it be great if you passed on the news to any other testers you know? (Hint!) If we all told 2-3 other Chicago testers about this event it would help it rock that little bit more :)
Just to be clear about talks - happy to have talks, would be great to have a few people come forward giving short - 5-10 minute lightning talks about a subject where the attendees can hopefully take away some useful knowledge/learning. Product demos and sales pitches are not allowed.
I'll be happy to speak on the topic of my latest STP article "A Paradigm Shift in Web Application Architecture and Why Performance Testers Should Care". I'm excited & looking forward to meet fellow Chicago testers next week.
Hi Suraj.
Rosie and I would love for you to do a lightening talk on your latest paper. Please be aware that you have no slides it's just a get up and talk session for no more than 10mins. We look forward to meeting you on Thursday.
Rosie,
Surprisingly I just realized that I could not attend your meetup - simple reason I will conduct a meetup in same building where you guys will do - we will be on 15 floor. I will present test automation management tool Gredy. Meetup details here: http://www.meetup.com/QAtools/events/38562852/![]()

See I'm not sure for how long STC meetup will run but all you guys are very welcomed to join our meetup later on - or we can even shift ours a half an hour in ahead. What do you think?
Hi Peter,
It's our first event, so no idea how long it will go on. In previous events elsewhere they can go on for hours with people just chatting and being social.
I'd prefer for things to stick to our location because we have made plans around it and Original Software are kindly hosting the event/venue/drinks.
It was a pleasure meeting fellow Chicago testers in the meetup yesterday. I had a nice time and I was pleased to know that the group enjoyed listening to my lightning talk. I wish that there are more such events/meetups in Chicago in the future. Thank you STC, Original Software, Rosie and everyone else who made this happen. Kudos to you!

Would anybody else like to volunteer to do a lightning talk?
