Fundamental practices for understanding the holistic nature, energetics and Sanskrit yoga philosophy guiding the approach of this comprehensive system. Long time yoga practitioners as well as new students will benefit. Experience the distinction of this system verses other modern yoga/vinyasa practices commonly taught and how to use the ujjayi as it relates to yoga sutra and moving with the breath and the importance of the pause. Talasana is a very unique & profound krama initiating & establishing "samasthiti", the steadiness and focus of mind, balanced energy and steadiness of body - with the two feet together, moving from the center, all the major joints and muscles of the body are exercised using arm and hand movements, back bends, side bends, twists, forward bends, squats and balancing foot stretches. The fingers interlaced create a prana circuit as they come together in the repetitive movement over the head. The breath specific movements stretch the diaphragm, psoas, massage the heart and internal organs, clear the lungs, drain the lymphatic system, stimulate the vagus nerve and calm the mind. Energy is created along the spine and central nervous system, and is distributed throughout the nadis and into the entire energy body. Regular practice of Talasana flowers into to ananta samapatti and understanding "stillness in movement".Class begins with Opening Mantras & Ding Namaskar (Devotional Salutation to the Directional Spheres with Breath & Mantra). Then moves to Tāĺāsana to Savasana then Seated Prānāyāma (Yogic Breathing) including Morning Cleansing Kriyas, Ujjayi, Nadi Shuddi, Samantraka Prānāyāma, Pratyahara, Dharana. May include Specific Mudra (Energetic Bodily Gestures).

Yoga Vinyasa Krama
Songbird Community Healing Center, 8299 Old Redwood Hwy, Cotati, CA, USYoga Vinyasa Krama - Thursdays 9-10:30am
Songbird Community Healing Center Cotati
RSVP ONLYExperience physical health & fitness, pranic flow, vital energy & stillness - through intelligent architecture with the metaphysics of deep conscious breathing & slow motion, yogic breathwork, mantra/sound/vibration, mudra, subtle & contemplative practices.
Yoga Vinyasa Krama is a comprehensive hatha-raja yogic system for purification, developing concentration, neuromuscular fitness and conditioning, refining & mastering the breath, awakening subtle energy and stilling the mind. Based on deep breathing & the subtle movement of prana directed into the cartilage tissue, sinuous musculature, internal organs, nerve pathways and nadis. It has over 700 intelligently sequenced slow, conscious breath powered with precision movement variations with pause (vinyasas), exploring many aesthetic variations of each posture to correctly establish the main asanas while the mind merges with the breath.
Includes the energetics of drishti, pratikriyas, bandha, vaseth, mudra, mantra, surya & ding namaskar with breath & mantra, cleansing kriyas, Himalayan pranayama including including ujjayi variations, heating & cooling breaths, solar, lunar & soli-lunar nadi shuddhi practices, pranava & samantraka pranayama, pratyahara, subtle & contemplative practices in 12 kramas (sequences).
The whole process gradually transforms the body and mind, releasing old patterns of physical and mental tension and dysfunctional patterns of movement, providing tonic, energetic and psychophysiological effects.
This system is presented from the teachings Srivatsa Ramaswami learned through his over 33 years of one on one study with Sri Krishnamacharya and teachings from a similar Himalayan method.
This ongoing class will explore the entire system of 12 Kramas with each class focusing on a particular krama (sequence) & pranayama & contemplative practices.
Please practice on an empty stomach. Morning beverage ok but please take it 30min or more before class.Certain injuries & health issues may be contraindicated Please contact me if you have a concern
