What instrument(s) do you use to write your music?

I play and teach guitar. I've been playing and writing songs for 40 years.

What comes easier for you - words or music?

Hard to say. Now it's a blend of the story I'm telling, the genre, mood...etc.. I write/play mostly light jazz and blues, some bee-bop and ballads...and I have a wide range of musical taste from Pink Floyd to Moses Lee.

Do you imagine yourself or someone else performing your songs?

Myself and my partner Alexi Paulina.

Are you interested in collaboration or finding a songwriting partner?

I have joined Alexi Paulina to form Lumina; Bio: Lumina is a pairing of veteran guitarist, singer, and songwriter Ed Moda and singer-songwriter Alexi Paulina. Since 2011 they have been collaborating to create and perform "pop fusion" songs, with a unique approach that blends rock, blues, country, folk, and mystical. Based in the Seattle area, Lumina performs original songs and cover tunes at venues throughout western Washington.

What areas of your music experience are you wanting to improve? e.g. songwriting, marketing, networking, recording, airplay, gigs, etc.

Alexi and I are writing so much new material, I’m constantly working on finding new interesting guitar progressions. So the best way for me to do that is by working at reading single note melody lines and fusing the melody into lead, scales and arpeggios as well as chord progressions and finger picking.

I'm Ed Moda, a local singer/songwriter, guitarist and guitar teacher. I've been playing for almost 40 years. I have a light theory background which helps me immensely in my songwriting.
