The Santa Rosa Marathon Beerfest

The Sonoma Beerocrats Homebrew Club has been cordially invited to attend and pour our own homebrews at this wonderful event. This is an opportunity for us to reach out to the public, teach and show people what we are all about and all for a good cause! We are able to pour up to seven homebrewed beers at this event. The Brewer must also present and pour his/her beer. If you would like to be involved in this great event and have a beer (at least 5 gallons) that you are proud of and would like to share please rsvp. Presenters will receive 2 free beerfest passes. check out the link for more information.

3) John Arends  |  German Weizen,
4) Janet and Michael  |  Kolsch.
5) Dustin Carver and Drew Jackson  |  West Coast IPA
6) Matt Kennedy  |  Munich Helles

So what was your favorite beer at the Beerfest other than the fantastic beers poured in the Sonoma Beerocrats tent?

Logsdon Seizon Bretta and Jolly Pumpkin La Roja.

    Ron,
Any further information on the logistics for Sunday? When and where (with traffic concerns) should we drop off kegs and supplies? Also, is there any additional information that we need to bring (recipes, style guides etc.)? Reminder that my beer is category 16E due to the Brett addition. Did you need help in the morning Sunday?
    Thanks
    Kevin

Thanks Kevin, I emailed my contacts and asked about parking and such. I have your category correct. I will email all brewers tomorrow morning their copy for approval plus any additional instructions. Since your beer is soured we should use a separate picnic tap. So that we do not contaminate the jockey box.

Can I suggest that the preview date for beer be August 15th - 17th? I think it needs that time if brewing next week. I am looking at a Saison with fruit.

      I think that is perfect.

Have we finalized a date for tasting preview?

I was planning on bringing copies of my recipe/ brewing notes, as well as Saison style guidelines. I will hold off in case you were thinking about a more uniform format for all brewers. Maybe we can have a uniform format for brewer name / beer name and "legal jargon".?

Thanks Kevin. I can format or set up a format for everyone and make copies. We will go over the minimum everyone needs on Wednesday and get back to all the brewers.

Thanks Michael, Have you been in contact with Orhan from Santa Rosa Marathon or Tyler?

    July 21, 2014

    • Ron S.

Tyler has responded back and I have additional questions out to the organizer. We can review educational content needs for the beers, brewers and the club at the next meeting. Thanks and see you there.

Thanks for the heads up on the styles you guys brewed. I had planned to brew saison, but I'll brew some California Common instead.

    Nice,
I just finished a 1.060 Saison with WLP 670 American Farmhouse Blend myself. Let the ferment begin!

Ron - thanks for clarifying this! Then I should give up my reserved spot for another brewer to use. Can you do that?

So excited to be attending! I have not (yet) started home brewing so should I still take a space for the RSVP? Or is that only for brewers wanting to contribute their own brews?

    1 · June 20, 2014

    • Ron S.

Hi Sue, yes this event is for brewers donating beer for the event. We will have a tasting event 1-2 weeks before the Beerfest to approve brewers entries. You can brew with someone. Each 5 gallon keg donated receives 2 Beerfest tickets.

I'll be brewing with Dustin and look forward to having a great beer to share.
