Social media has become an essential part of the marketing mix for everyone, from small businesses to global brands. But how do we actually fit it all in?

It's a problem that so many businesses struggle with. How do you find time to tweet and update Facebook when you're so busy running the business and looking after your customers? For businesses that are very customer facing this can be a particular challenge - if people don't get a quick answer on social they start complaining (very loudly).

Picking the right platforms can be difficult. Facebook and Twitter might seem sensible choices, but when new channels like Vine come out, how do you know whether to take the plunge?

Then you need to consider who's looking after the updates. Are they using Twitter on their computer - or getting handy with Hootsuite on their iPhone?Can they actually string a sentence together? And what happens if something goes wrong, do you have a plan in place?
