The creator of The Songwriters Soul Kitchen, my mentor and friend and an amazing musician and performer will be performing at Bohemian Caverns on Nov. 11th doing two shows 7pm and 9pm.
International recording artist and Berklee College of Music educator, Vinx is as close as you'll find to a 21st century Renaissance Man. From world class athlete, chosen for the U.S. Olympic Team 1980, to founder and visionary of the acclaimed Songwriter's Soul Kitchen workshops, he has followed his mother's advice, "You can't sing of life unless you live it!" Vinx has performed with such notable artists as Ernie Watts, Sting, Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder, Cassandra Wilson, Rickie Lee Jones and Taj Mahal. Known to music fans as a percussionist and vocalist (One Man, One Voice, One Drum) his music is classified by some as jazz, by some as world music and by others as soul.
The Soul Kitchen is an amazing community of independent artists, writers, musicians, producers, and singers who have banned together to push the limits of their creative spirit. Throughout the year The Soul Kitchen plays host to new and returning artists. Through a series of interactive workshops. In this groove gumbo you will find a diverse group of artists including age, gender, race, genre and culture. The DC Workshops will be part of a monthly series featuring different exercises in songwriting, performing and producing. As well as discussing different aspects of the music industry (Recording, Publishing, etc). The goal is to show the many different ways to write songs and find your inspiration. There will also be a show put on monthly as well featuring Soul Kitchen alumni, various artists, recurring homegrown talent, and participants of the DC songwriting group. All are welcome ... Come and be part of an amazing creative effort!
