The UK Misophonia Support Group is a place for people with this debilitating condition to come together online for support, mutual understanding and to share experiences. As the group grows in strength, we will schedule real-world meetings for those who want to do so.
Misophonia, also known as Selective Sound Sensitivity Syndrome, SSSS and phonophobia, is a poorly-understood condition. Most doctors have never heard of it, and diagnosis usually requires a meeting with a consultant audiological physician or otolaryngologist. However, the growing strength of online communities suggest that it is a widespread problem. We plan to campaign for greater recognition in the medical and research arenas. A greater awareness in the general public would be a long-term goal.
We would also like to invite family members and friends of those with misophonia to join.
