In this presentation, Akamai Technologies Media & Content Delivery Network Quality Assurance team will discuss some of the challenges they face in testing large-scale Content Delivery Networks and the automation infrastructure, methodologies and processes implemented to effectively meet those challenges.

Some of the technologies used in the automation frame works are Perl, Object Oriented Perl, Python, Django, MySQL, Java, C, Celery, HTML, Hicharts, Sikuli etc.

Bios:

Pavan Golla is Senior Manager of SQA within Media and Content Delivery Network team, responsible for System QA and automation of Media Delivery Products. Pavan comes from Computer Science background, with 15 years of experience in Software Development and Quality Assurance combined. He joined Akamai in 2005 through Speedera Networks acquisition (#2 CDN Player at that time), prior to that he spent 4+ years towards leading the QA efforts of Speedera Networks Products. Pavan is very passionate about working on large scale distributed data network technologies, automation, team building both on-site and off-shore teams, implementing and executing lightweight and effective QA processes.

Savita Rajpali has a MS in Computer Science and worked as software developer for the first few years of her career. She realized that she was spending more time helping colleagues hunt and nail down bugs than writing code. This led her to switch her career to SQE. She joined Akamai Technologies in 2001 as a QA Engineer. Over the years, she progressed to a Principal QA Engineer and then a QA Manager in 2007. She leads teams in two continents. Savita loves quality engineering and continually drives her team towards bringing in new processes and automating the QA process.

Smita Aeron is a Manager in the Media & CDN server development group. She is responsible for the validation, automation and QA of Akamai’s Web Proxy HTTP server, a critical component of Akamai’s globally distributed Intelligent Platform that is estimated to deliver 20% of the World Wide Web traffic. Smita's team also focuses on performance measurement and analysis which includes dealing with the architecture and design challenges of a web-scale distributed CDN cloud. She has a MS in CS from SJSU. Before joining Akamai, Smita was a Software Lead in HCL Perot Systems. She has over 10 years of industry experience, strong background in client server technologies, http and other web protocols, media delivery ecosystem, large scale distributed systems and highly available & scalable Internet infrastructure.
