Lockleys Pylon to Victoria Falls via Blue Gum Forrest Overnight Camping

Day One 15km and Day Two 10km.

This is a one way walk starting Leura so will need to catch the train back from Mt Victoria. We will also need to car pool, see below.

From the car park at the end of Mt Hay Rd the walk passes the prominent features of the Pinnacles and then to the 360 degree views of the Grose Valley and Mt Hay area from atop Lockleys Pylon. We catch more views from the plateau at Du Faur Head before making the sharp descent down to the delectable Blue Gum Forrest for lunch. The early part of the afternoon will be spent making our way along the floor of the Grose Valley, before arriving at the Burra Korain camp ground.

The next morning it is only about another 3km to the end of the track, although this is quite a steep ascent. We pass Victoria Falls along the way. Then it is a further 6km walk along Victoria Falls Rd to Mt Victoria Station to catch the train back to Leura.

We will leave some cars at Leura Station, drive to the Mt Hay Rd car park to start the walk, then on Sunday after catching the train back to Leura will use the cars at the station to retrieve the vehicles on Mt Hay Rd.

Notes:

1. It is recommended you bring at least 2L of water with you. There is water available from the Grose River which we walk close to for much of Saturday, but it should be treated before consumption.

2. You need to bring your tent and all camping gear, sunscreen and hat, good walking shoes as a fair bit of the terrain is either steep or uneven, protective clothing in case of variable weather and a sense of adventure.

3. Although the weather will be warmer by October, it can still get cold overnight where we are camping so bring warm gear and thermals if you have them.
