Staging environments are an essential part of the development cycle. In staging the code will be tested in the exact same conditions as it would be used in production. There are a many tools for testing correctness, behavior, and even user interactions. Development environments are typically too slow for testing anything more complex than code units. Developers also don’t want to test the application while it is under load in production. A staging environment allows us to test these things and makes the deployment more secure and reliable.

In this talk Angel Ramirez & Juan Lopez are going to cover the importance of having a proper staging environment, explain high level concepts about setting up the environment, and demonstrate these using tools like Chef, Knife, and Cloud Services.
