About The Rainbow Run
The Rainbow Run is a 5k run/walk for acceptance and diversity. Spearheaded by the Ferndale Area Chamber of Commerce and presented by Garden Fresh Gourmet, the run will weave through the streets of downtown Ferndale the morning of the Ferndale Pride Market Days as one of the many events taking place throughout the Ferndale Pride weekend.
Participants will receive white t-shirts* with the Rainbow Run logo to wear (a changing tent will be available for women). As participants pass six different stations along the course, volunteers will throw a different colored non-toxic powdered paint at their shirts. By the end of the race, the t-shirts (and yes, other parts of your body!) will be decorated with all six colors providing a colorful reminder of the event.
A family-friendly event, we also have a 2k kid's run/walk. Strollers are welcome (but no bikes or dogs please).

It's all about the fun. Because runners will most likely slow down as they go past the paint stations, we won't be timing this event and runners will not be placed. It's more about the fun than the performance. If you would like to time your run, we recommend bringing your own timer.
The race will start and finish along Allen St between West Nine Mile and West Troy St in Ferndale, MI (next to Rosie O'Grady's patio).
Registration will begin at 8:45 am.
The run / walk start times will be staggered by category starting at 10:30 am
Then stay for a closing ceremony where we'll be launching 300 rainbow-colored balloons, creating a colorful kick off for Ferndale Pride Market Days event that will begin at noon that day. The balloons will be biodegradable with no strings attached to make sure we don't impact the environment.
Cost to participate:
$25 per person for 5k run or walk - early bird pricing through 3/31/13
$30 per person for 5k run or walk - 4/1/13 - 5/31/13
$15 per person for 2k run/walk (only three colors will be thrown on this route)
$35 for 5k / $20 for 2k for day-of-event registration.
