Doug Bingham Memorial at Willow Springs!!!

I am hoping to get a ride together to Willow Springs Raceway for Vintage Motorcycle and Sidecar Racing. It's the same weekend as Paso Robles Vintage Sidecar rally. I know some of us are committed to Paso Robles, but as of now only 5 rigs from our club can make it.

I have been to this event a few times, and it is great fun! The bikes race both Saturday and Sunday, and one of our guys Kevin is racing his sidecar rig there too. In fact, Kevin whose father was teamed up with our own Doug Bingham for many years wishes for all the sidecar rigs do a couple of laps of honor for Doug around the race track. The ride around the racetrack is set for Sunday Lunchtime I think 11am to 12 noon. I will get more details on this from Kevin in case we have to sign waivers or anything I might be able to get a head start on the process. .This is a thrilling idea, and a great way to let the Motorcycle World know how much we respect Doug.

Willow Springs and the AMA are fully behind this tribute and Kevin has been leasing with both parties

The Vintage Bikes are racing both days and we will be able to camp there overnight if you wish. The Cafe serves decent food, there are clean restrooms and a vintage motorcycle show too. Last time I went to a vintage swap meet and many motorcycle specific vendors were present.

The town with shops is not far away with a gas station and fast food. If there is enough interest I will make this a club official ride. If not, I am going and anyone who wants to join me is most very welcome.

I plan to meet at one of our usual breakfast places. I haven't planned the route, but the freeway is the most direct, but we will not be going fast. I am working with Mike Smith to see if there is a more scenic route. Any thoughts and Ideas are welcome on this.
